The Akasha Conservatorium luxury hotel in Amsterdam has been crowned the number one luxury hotel in the Netherlands. Located in the Museum Square district, near most musea like Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, the Conservatorium is an architectural masterpiece near the Vondelpark that combines a landmark heritage building with graceful, contemporary design.
Guests enjoy a selection of restaurants, a bar, lounge and most important to our editor, the 1,000 sq m Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre. The hotel service is like no other, and many other hotels in Amsterdam cannot meet the high standards of the Conservatorium Hotel. The level of service at the hotel is known as slightly undutch – that good. For what it is worth, it is said that many international celebrities prefer to spend their night at the Conservatorium Hotel, when in Amsterdam.

More than just a spa
The Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre is more than just a spa and swimmingpool. It offers not only massages and spa treatments, also fitness classes and specialists like trainers. Therefore, we would not capture the Conservatorium Hotel as a typical spa hotel. We would prefer to name it as a well being hotel or as they describe it “Akasha” – since they offer more than just a spa (around 1,000 square metres of luxury).
This is a spacious and tranquil urban retreat, where visitors can enjoy a dazzling pool, a private Hammam, and the best equipped gym of any hotel in Amsterdam – according to their website. At Conservatorium Hotel we felt like an emperor. Their specialists offer indulgent therapies, treatments and training – from nutrition to meditation, and Reiki to Watsu. In fact, they have been voted The Netherlands’ number one luxury spa. Ah, but there’s that word again… So to keep things simple, we just call it Akasha.
